Good morning everyone! I hope the new year has been GREAT so far! I started the new year off with a refresh button! By refresh I mean I did serious purging on the overflow in our house! While the cleaning portion wasn’t ideal, in the end I felt so relieved! Did you catch my latest blog post on how to Get Organized Once and For All! I have tips on how to purge the clutter and how to set proper organization going forward! I find that if you have a system in place then it avoids future disorder.
Speaking of being a minimalist – I choose to skip the drawer full of makeup because as a mom I don’t have the time or the energy to do a full fancy makeup session every day! I’m always on the go, so simplicity is key for me. Also, am I the only female that thinks makeup has evolved so much?! Contour, baking, etc. The only baking I have time for is baking cookies to keep 3 little children happy! Happy children, happy momma! I know I sound like a huge girl fail over here, but some makeup techniques are a little too time consuming in my opinion for a Simple Everyday Makeup Routine…AKA morning rush makeup session with 5 minutes to spare like I do 7 days a week! Haha!
Today on Curls & Cashmere, I want to share my Simple Everyday Makeup Routine and what products I use daily that are quick, great coverage and affordable! Beauty doesn’t have to be crazy $$$ and cost an arm & leg! Let’s get started:
My Simple Everyday Makeup Routine
- IT Your Skin But Better CC cream. Ya’ll I can’t exaggerate enough when I say the coverage is good. I have a few dark spots and lots of redness, so a cream that can cover them and leave me with a natural look is exactly what I need! Another thing I love is it doesn’t give me a cakey look. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE cake, but I’ve always had a fear of running into a door that didn’t open quick enough and I leave an entire face mark on the door… no thanks! Haha. Aside from coverage, this product has great SPF 50+ in it with zinc oxide, which is the best SPF! It also helps hydrate skin (During winter I need all the hydration I can get!) and there I also anti-aging serum in it. I wear color light.
- Tarte Shape Tape: A little goes a long way with this cult favorite concealer. I dot a small amount under my eyes in the shape of a triangle and then over my eyelids too. I dab it in with my finger or a damp blender. I also put a little on my chin. This has amazing coverage and is the #1 concealer in the US for good reason. Just use a little as it is thick.
- PUR Bronzer: This is new to me and I have had this as part of my Simple Everyday Makeup Routine for the last several months. It has lots of pure ingredients so it won’t irritate your skin or etc. I love the sun-kissed glow I get from it. I lightly brush some into my cheek contours, around my forehead and neck. Makes me look awake and lightly bronzed.
- Eyebrows and a swipe of Eyeshadow. This might sound weird, but eyebrows are one of the first things I notice when I meet someone. A few years ago, I got my eyebrows micro bladed and it was well worth it! Microblading consists of tiny small strokes being semi-permanently itched; made to give the illusion of real hair. Everyone is different but microblading on average lasts 1-3 years. I would recommend it if you are looking for a permanent option! Since it’s been a few years that I got my eyebrows done, I am currently experiencing some fading. So to shade in a few spots, I use the NYX Micro Brow Pencil. This pencil is great to help define and shape your eyebrows with its thin point. If you need help learning how to properly shape your eyebrows, please be sure to check out my Pinterest Curlscashmere and I have a Beauty Board that gives tips on how to shape picture perfect brows! I then add a neutral colored swipe of eyeshadow from this palette. I love the neutral colors in this affordable collection.
- They’re Real Primer followed with the Roller Lash Mascara– A girl’s best friend, right? My motto to make me feel and appear awake is “Give me Coffee & Mascara.” One of my favorite Brands of mascara is Benefit. The They’re Real Mascara primer is so worth the extra step! It is is the holy grail of primers. I do this primer first, and then add the roller lash mascara. I LOVE that while it adds length to your lashes it doesn’t have fibers that are constantly flaking off all day and this all washes off easily at night! The Roller Lash Mascara is great for lifting lashes so I don’t need a lash curler. If you have long eyelashes already then this mascara is great because it lift and curls lashes. The wand is so neat and it works so good at separating lashes avoiding spider web lashes!
- Nars Orgasm Blush: Another holy grail item and I have used it for YEARS! #1 selling blush in America! It gives this great glowy look along with a hint of pink to your cheeks. This is also highly pigmented so it lasts me at least a year or longer. Perfection!
- Buxom Plumping Lip Powder then topped with NYX Butter gloss – I have gotten SOO many messages about my newest lip color I have been wearing as of late. My current obsession is NYX Butter Gloss in shade Vanilla Creme Pie. I got this color at a Christmas party and I love the pink shade. It is so affordable and this gloss comes in over 25 colors; so many options! Another new favorite of mine is the Buxom Pillow Pout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder in shade Cuddle Me. The color pigmentation in this product is amazing. You might notice that the applicator is little different from others, but I personally like the sponge applicator because it glides perfectly on my lips in generally one swipe! I like to layer these two together, so first I apply the Cuddle Me and then top with the gloss, but both are great on their own too.
Just a quick recap of my simple everyday makeup routine, the steps I follow when applying my make-up are: 1) CC Cream 2) Concealer 3)Bronzer 4) Eyebrows & Shadow 5) Primer & Mascara 6) Blush 7) Lips
