Hello everyone! Since it’s a new year and a new month (Sorry, probably should’ve done a recap a month ago but better late than never!) I thought I would reintroduce who/what Curls and Cashmere is! My name is Ashley, I’m based out of Oklahoma City, I am happily married and blessed with 3 wonderful children! My life can be chaotic as a mom, but throughout the madness I have found my happy place: this blog.

Today I want to share my Simple Valentine’s Day Home Decor Ideas with you! If you missed my Valentine’s Day Decor Essentials, you can click here to see them all. All things hearts and pink are so cute and right up my alley…so, of course, I had to incorporate them into my home for some festive and simple Valentine’s Day home decor ideas! I LOVE pink, it’s such a fun color, so any excuse to add more pink to the house is okay with me! Even though I love it, I don’t want to go overboard. I don’t think my hubby would be too thrilled with our house looking like a 3-year old’s room.
So, to start, we spend majority of our family time in the living room and kitchen so those are the rooms I tend to decorate first for every holiday or with seasonal decor ! The general color scheme for my house is very neutral colors (creams, browns, and greys), which makes it soooo easy to add in a few simple Valentine’s Day home decor ideas without overwhelming the space and keeping it all chic and understated.
Simple Valentine’s Day Home Decor Ideas
For me, adding in Valentine’s decor to my home means adding in chic, stylish accessories that stand the test of time and that don’t SCREAM Valentine’s. My fave home decor tip that I give over and over again is keep your draperies, rugs, and furnishings mostly neutral and classic, so that you can change the look and feel of any space time and time again just by swapping out the accessories. But, if you are curious, I don’t always listen to my own advice and went REALLY BOLD in my laundry room/office space. I love blue, can’t you tell?!
However, the rest of our home is neutral and classic. Also, once Valentine’s is over, I will remove any heart decor but keep out the blush pinks for spring and Easter. By adding in a few egg and bunny decor pieces, I will be decorated for easter in no time! And MOST IMPORTANTLY, my kids love that I decorate for all the holidays and seasons and that makes my heart happy! Let’s get started:
Living Room Decor Ideas
Add in Pillows:
On our 2 leather sofas, I added in some new pillows to my existing neutral pillow lineup. Pillows are one of the most affordable home decor accessories to change out. I used a cozy faux fur throw I already had and paired it with the cutest faux fur heart shaped pillow! The heart pillows come in cream and in a blush color. On my cream accent chair in my living room, I chose to drape another faux fur throw over the back and added a custom pink pillow I have had for years (I may have borrowed this from my daughter’s room). Adding in just a hint of pink and hearts to an otherwise neutral space is what my Simple Valentine’s Day Home Decor Ideas are all about!
Coffee Table Styling:
In the center of my living room, I use a large tufted ottoman to act as my coffee table. We have a large tray (sorry, the tray has been sold out for years) set on top where we can set our drinks. It is also one of my fave decor pieces to restyle over and over again! Of course, begin your coffee table styling with some pretty coffee table books! I just added this Chanel book and this Rebecca Atwood book to my line up and they look so pretty. After I made a few stacks of nice books, I then placed a faux arrangement of white roses that I am obsessed with.
They are the perfect elegant décor year round. While I LOVE fresh flowers, I don’t like spending the money on them week after week. Artificial flowers are great since they 1) can’t wilt and die (Hallelujah!) and 2) they can be used for years! I then added a few blush pink accessories to the tray. Remember when styling, you don’t want everything to be the same shape…To add dimension to the tray, I added a gorgeous pink crystal. I also added a pink candle that has white flowers on the side. Not only does the candle provide a breathtaking smell but it’s so pretty. Finally, I just LOVE my new blush pink matches I recently bought. They come in variety of colors too.
Mantle Decor:
I added more decor books to our cast stonefireplace. I placed 2 mercury glass candlesticks on the stack of books because they add a romantic vibe and that fits in perfectly with my simple Valentine’s Day home decor ideas. Then, I found a cute pink bowl and added some of my fave wooden beads to the bowl. I have a blush pink picture of one of our children in a frame next to the bowl…you can see how I like to coordinate every little detail, even the pictures I have setting out go with the feel of the room I am trying to create. On the other side of the mantle, I have more books and a small vase of pink flowers. I added another blush pink pillow to my wicker basket and a fringe throw.

Kitchen Decor Ideas
Stovetop:
We have a very open kitchen and I love to restyle it constantly! Above my stovetop, I hung a nice, floral spring wreath. This heart-shaped wreath is darling and would make a great statement. I have had the white floral wreath for years and always bring it out during spring time. Tip: I use a command hook to hang my wreath on my backsplash tile and it never fails me! I have also hung a cute Valentine’s Day bunting on my vent hood too for a cute look in years past.
Open Shelving Decor:
Lots of my subtle pink pieces I added were all under $20! Adding just a few blush pink pieces to my otherwise neutral shelves, is just the look I strive for. Target spoke to my heart on so many levels this year (ok, really they do all year round! Ha!). On one side of my top open shelf, I put a pink cake holder (not from Target). Great counter piece but could also be used if needed to serve yummy Valentines cookies or etc.
Next, I placed an adorable pink and white vase on the middle shelf. On the other side, I added the prettiest scalloped bowl and filled with small bouquets bundles. I found the cutest gold-colored cursive love plaque and instead of mounting it, I placed it on the shelf. Also, I bought some pretty pink colored sparkling waters in glass bottles! I love adding in food appropriate decor to my kitchen and the height these provide are great! I will leave these out for several months and into summer.
Kitchen Counter Decor:
I like my counters mostly bare, it just makes it the room feel bigger and cleaner. This cherry blossom floral arrangement would be perfect for Valentines and to leave out all spring long! I added a few blush pink jelly jars and another pink glass vase with a giant paper flower in it. I left my island bare for right now, but in the past, I used these glass jars and put a variety of Valentine’s Day candy in them..think conversation hearts and pink jelly beans and more. My kids absolutely LOVE it when I use candy as decor! I’m a big advocate for clean and clutter free decor and organization, so I didn’t want to do too much to crowd my counters this year. If you want more organization tips, be sure to check my previous post on How to Get Organized Once and For All.
Dining Room Table:
We don’t sit around the dining room table as much, but since the dining room is in view from my living room and kitchen, I didn’t want to forget about adding a few pops of pink. I placed a large (faux again) pink Orchid arrangement that is absolutely gorgeous! The stunning pop of pink was the perfect centerpiece to add elegance to our table. I use this arrangement during the spring and summer months for a pop of color that is easy to remove once I decorate for fall. Another big hit that I have year-round and get questions on about are my custom chairs. We did a neutral fabric for most of the chair, but then added a band of fuchsia around the bottom. They tie in perfectly with my Simple Valentine’s Day Home Decor Ideas.
I hope this mini tour of my house showcasing all of my chic and simple Valentine’s Day home decor ideas show you how easily it can be done! Decorating for Valentine’s Day and Spring was so simple and affordable. I anticipate the clean up will be even easier! As stated, before all the pieces I linked are very affordable and most pieces can be delivered to your house within days! That’s sounds pretty easy and ideal to me!
