I have been teasing this kitchen refresh for several weeks now on my IG page and I am SO thrilled to share it with you finally! To me, a kitchen isn’t just a kitchen, it’s the heart of a home. Gathering around our kitchen island is something we do several times per day, whether it be for a quick breakfast before the kids leave for school, for homework after school or for family dinnertime.
I HIGHLY suggest if you are remodeling or designing a new kitchen, to make sure you put a large island in the kitchen. It is so family-friendly and great for entertaining as well. For size reference, my island is 9ft 2in long and 5ft 4in wide. I went as large as I possibly could without having a seam in my countertop, which is quartzite.
The paint color is SW Urbane bronze. The outer kitchen cabinets are SW Dorian grey. Wall color is SW Natural choice. For my exact dark brass cabinet hardware, click here. For my brass kitchen island pendants, click here. Vintage kitchen runner was sourced from KyRose Designs. For my exact kitchen faucet, click here. My wood floors are natural white oak in a 5″ nail down plank in jacobean stain. Beams and open shelving were a custom stain mixed by the painter.

How to Style Kitchen Countertops like a Pro
Today I wanted to share the details on our kitchen refresh. My kitchen, in my house and lake house, wouldn’t be complete without a few pieces from one of my favorite home decor brands, Serena & Lily. They believe living well begins at home. And I think they are totally right. EEEEKKKKK….Let’s take a look at my refreshed kitchen…
Kitchen Refresh with Serena & Lily
BEFOREAFTER
- Well, obviously the BIG refresh we did was changing out the seating around the island! It is SO amazing what kind of impact changing out the seating made on the entire kitchen! AND THE BEST NEWS, THEY ARE ON SALE TODAY! 30% OFF! Don’t get me wrong, I love the before image! We previously had backless stools that we had recovered in a faux ostrich leather to make them kid-friendly as soon as we moved into our home. You can find a similar counter stool here. They were awesome, but after having them almost 5 years (I can’t believe we have lived in our home that long already), I was ready for a change!
- Once we purchased the navy Riviera Counter stools for our lake house kitchen, I immediately wanted them for our main house kitchen as well! The details on the stools are beautiful and the chairs are comfortable and kid-friendly. I was torn between the grey sunwashed color and the natural sunwashed color, but with so much grey in my kitchen already, I decided to go for more of a contrast and do the natural. We have touches of natural seagrass through out our home, so the color pairs nicely with existing rugs and decor. If I ever repaint my island or kitchen, I know the stool will be very versatile and never go out of style.
New Island Centerpieces
- I added a new island center piece as well…the beaufort tray. I have been coveting this tray FOREVER! The size is large and it is so darn chic. I knew it would look great against our white macabus quartzite countertops too. So, I styled it with a few books, decor items like wooden rosary beads and some fresh fruit. I also added my cute little marble salt and pepper holders with spoons. It would also look great on a coffee table, large ottoman, on a console table, or even styled on a bed.
I hope you loved my kitchen refresh today! If you are looking to revamp your home before the holiday season, then I would check out Serena & Lily because I have found so many pieces that I absolutely adore. Their casual, coastal chic items are perfect for any room in your home. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog for all the latest home and fashion from me! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you to Serena and Lily for partnering with me on this post. All opinions are mine.
Beautiful! Thank you for the detailed specifics. Do you mind sharing how tall are your counters are (height for open area of stools)? I’m interested in the Serena & Lily stools but worry our counters are too low for them.

Hi! I can measure. Thanks!
Just wondering about the sconces in your gray kitchen? They look different than the lake house sconces! Am looking for sconces to work with my Serena and Lily Goodman pendants. These seem to go perfectly!!! Would love the info on them! Thanks, Lisa
