How to Create a Festive Christmas Entryway

woman standing outside her porch and Festive Christmas EntrywayThis year is flying by so quickly! Of course 2019 wouldn’t be complete without celebrating one of our favorite holidays: CHRISTMAS! Christmas is a big deal in our house as I am sure it is in your home too. To get everyone in the holiday spirit I started decorating the house early this year. Okay, I decorate early every year because I absolutely love Christmas decor! It always brings instant joy to the house. There is something about greenery and having glitter EVERYWHERE that just makes it feel like Christmas! My cordless vacuum gets the most use during this holiday. Lol!

If you’ve been with me for a while, then you know I love all things home and decorating. Even though I try to reuse what I have, I still like to go Christmas decor shopping for inspiration and to add to my ever-expanding collection. You can never have too much Christmas decor! I can always count on finding my home inspiration year round at At Home. This store literally feels like I’m at home when I go because I love browsing the aisles and aisles of home decor and I usually spend an excessive amount of time here. And I always have a coffee in hand! Haha!

Today I wanted to share how to create a festive Christmas entryway. An entrance that is warm and welcoming for all of my family that will be coming this year for the holiday. We are hosting this year as my parent’s house will be under construction and my sister is having her 4th baby any day now!

How to Create a Festive Christmas Entryway

The first step in decorating is choosing your theme or color scheme. I went with a neutral look with hints of red on my porch. I chose to have my base items neutral so I’m able to easily add in a few pops of color as well. This is my take on How to Create a Festive Christmas Entryway: (All Christmas decor is from At Home and were all my own personal selections.)porch christmas decoration

1) A wreath is a must-have! I found an oversized flocked outdoor wreath at At Home and knew it would fit well on my wide steel front door. I usually decorate the interior windows with small wreaths as well.  Tip: Use a handy suction cup wreath holder on glass if you don’t want to use a command hook or over the door wreath holder. I did add a few small ornaments to the wreath with wire to complement my color scheme.Festive Christmas Entryway with two small christmas trees and joy sign

2) I placed a few mini flocked trees near the door.  I like to use different heights of trees to add dimension. I left the trees undecorated but I did want to add some color so I added a garland of wooden red beads to each tree. If you want more of a winter wonderland, At Home has snow carpet and it gives a great illusion of snow! Snow carpet would look great under the base of the trees for a frosty look. The holidays are here! Click to read as Ashley shares how to create a festive Christmas entryway. 3) Of course if there is frost/snow on the ground the perfect outdoor activity is sledding! Call it wishful thinking but I also placed a cute wooden sled near the front door to remind us that colder weather is coming. Yay! This sled tied in perfectly with the flocked mini trees and the scale is nice on my large porch.christmas decoration outside the home

4) Christmas couldn’t be achieved without Santa’s helpers; the reindeer! I found the cutest silver reindeer to place on the porch. To add more color to the silver reindeer I placed extra red beads as a necklace.

5) I added a pretty oversized lantern and the best part, it came with candles, greenery and ribbon on it. I put ornaments inside myself.  The dim candle light looks great when it reflects off the ornaments.woman hanging a christmas wreath on the door

6) Finally on my front porch I made one final easy festive Christmas touch that guests will always see and use. Place a fun Christmas welcome mat at your front door! I went with a red Merry Christmas rug to add some color since my other decorations were subtle in color. This is such a practical decoration piece!

I hope you guys enjoyed my Christmas front porch! The front of the house makes the first impression so don’t forget to decorate there! I didn’t want the Christmas joy to stop at the front door so I always decorate our interior entryway as well.

1)  I like wreaths everywhere so I placed a wreath on our front entryway mirror.  I love wreaths hanging on a pretty mirror. I use floral wire and somehow get one to hang every year!  Since we always use this mirror as we are running out the front door, I wanted to use a wreath that was noticeable and unique.woman decorating her Festive Christmas Entryway

2) I placed 3 ceramic metallic trees on top of the entryway table.  Since the trees were placed between 2 tall lamps I wanted the trees to be in unison in size for a nice symmetrical look. I like the clean lines, so I didn’t want to go too overboard and these trees were the perfect space filler.Festive Christmas Entryway with console and gold decor

3) For some warmth and glam, I added a faux fur table runner  to my console table. I always break out the cozy textures for the holiday so my vignette doesn’t look to cold if that makes sense.closeup photo of console table with textured doors and on top are small Christmas trees and two lamps console table with textured doors and on top are small Christmas trees and two lamps
