Hi Ya’ll! It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! And NO I don’t mean Christmas…It’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! This is their biggest sale of the year, with discounts on brand new arrivals from all the top brands. I have long been shopping this sale for many, many years…way before I was blogging. Today I wanted to share with you some Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Tips 2020 on how to navigate the sale and highlight some important key dates.
The sale starts for the public on August 19th 9:30 AM ET and runs until August 30th, however you can gain early access to shop the sale with my first tip….
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Shopping Tips 2020
TIP 1- Gain Early Access with a Nordstrom Credit Card
This is my biggest piece of advice! Now I don’t promote having debt or going into debt to shop the sale… however having the Nordstrom Credit Card gets you early access to shopping the sale. A lot of top items will sell out extremely fast. The higher the Cardmember status, the earlier you can shop. Don’t fret if you choose not to get a card…some items may come back later in the fall and might be on sale.
With your Nordy Credit Card, you can earn 3 points per dollar spent in store or online at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, HauteLook, & Trunk Club. Plus you get a $40 Bonus Note when you make any purchase on your card the day you are approved. Then spend your $40 later at Nordy on anything!
I personally have a card to shop the sale every year as well as gain points for my purchases that get me free $20 Nordstrom Notes, double points day and more. Card’s take a while to ship, so get on it if you are interested. If you are last minute, Nordstrom Customer Service should be able to link your account with your new Nordstrom card so you can still shop the sale early. I would check with them to verify.

TIP 2-Preview the Anniversary Sale- JULY 24th!
This is NEW this year and everyone can preview the sale early starting July 24th (check out my Preview picks below)! This allows more time to save your favorites to your Wish List for faster check out when it’s time to shop. This is a REALLY nice feature! This preview experience will replace the print catalogue this year FYI.
Cardmembers with Icon, Ambassador or Influencer status will get even more time to shop Early Access. The higher your status, the earlier you shop. This is on top of the six days of Early Access all Cardmembers get.

TIP 3-When in doubt, buy multiple sizes.
If you are unsure of what size to order, always order multiple and then you can return what does not fit. If you wait, you will definitely run the risk of the item not being in stock. Nordstrom has the best return policy with free shipping & free returns. They haven’t restocked sale items the last few years, so chances are they won’t this year either.
My absolute favorite trench cardigan coat I bought last year at the sale. It sold out the first day.
TIP 4-Think about your Fall wardrobe needs.
Typically, women’s clothing, women’s shoes and beauty are the quickest items to sell out each year. Take a look at what you wore the most of last fall and winter and plan ahead. For me, I am always on the lookout for new cardigans, new denim, new boots, booties and mules! I always take a look at the women’s tennis shoes, athleisure wear and beauty deals. And don’t forget about the always popular Barefoot Dreams blanket that usually go on sale and go quickly!

TIP 6- Think ahead for Back to School & Holiday gifts!
This is a great time to score some great deals on back to school clothes & sneakers for the kids (assuming they go back to school in your area). Also they always have some AMAZING beauty bundle deals (last year was the cult favorite Charlotte Tilbury’s PillowTalk lip bundle on sale) & gifts options that are great for holiday gift giving. I stock up on my fave candles for myself and as gifts too!
