I just turned 40 in March and to celebrate, my husband Casey and I took a little getaway to Scottsdale, Arizona. It was so nice to get away just the two of us. We wanted to head somewhere warm and slightly secluded so we could just enjoy getting away from it all after such a wild year! As soon as I booked the trip, I started googling “What to Wear in Scottsdale” to see what the weather would be like during our stay and typical attire for the dinner reservations and hikes we had planned.
Scottsdale gets very hot in the summer but they have mild winter months. Similar to the west coast, I think spring is the perfect time of year for a trip to Scottsdale. Generally in the spring, it’s warm, and you can get outdoors and go hiking or even drive up to see the Grand Canyon or make a trip to Sedona without it being 100 degrees like during the summer months.
What to Wear In Scottsdale
Being in the desert, Arizona doesn’t get much rain at all and the temperature might be really warm during the day but cool off considerably in the evening. Wondering what to wear in Scottsdale? During warmer spring days, I would plan on wearing a tank top during the day and then plan to wear long sleeve top or light jacket at night! And lots of sunscreen during the day.
While we were visiting (March 25th-29th 2021), they had a cold front come in so it was a little chillier than usual. The weather was in the 50-70’s during the day so you definitely needed a jacket or even a coat for night time. Sadly, we only got to hang out at the pool one day while we were there since it was so chilly.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Resort at Troon North which was absolutely stunning. The desert landscape is so beautiful and the scenery didn’t even look real! The pic above is directly outside of our room at the resort. We loved how secluded it was for the two of us to enjoy some time away. The only downside to staying at this resort was that it was 20-25 minutes from the hot spots in Scottsdale. Occasionally we had trouble getting an Uber, but we noticed Lyft was much easier to use during our stay!
Today I’m sharing a roundup of what to wear in Scottsdale to help you pack in case you’re planning and need to know what to wear in Arizona. Also sharing what we did and what restaurants we enjoyed while we were there. Read til the end to see more recommendations for things to do in Scottsdale that we never got the chance to do.

Neon Pullover & Camo Joggers for Traveling to Scottsdale
For traveling to Arizona, I wore my Target neon pullover (wearing a size small) and my target camo joggers (size small here). I also have a blog post on Camo Outfit Ideas for Women that you can read here! This was the perfect comfy outfit for flying this time of year and traveling through the airport.
I also love this set of affordable luggage in case you’re looking for a cute set. Once we got to our resort in Scottsdale and got settled in, we ate at Proof on the Four Seasons resort property. The food was delicious, American-style and the outdoor dining space was beautiful! It had outdoor heaters and fantastic views so it was perfect for after our day of travel.
Casual Leggings (similar linked) & Tank Outfit for a Spa Appointment or Hiking in Scottsdale
Thursday morning after we got there, we had massages scheduled at the Four Seasons. We had a late breakfast and then headed to our spa appointment. I was so excited to have a little morning at the spa – it was the perfect way to start off our time in Scottsdale. I highly recommend these black leggings from Amazon, which are such a great dupe for the Lululemon align leggings and super affordable. If you’re into fitness at all, you have to get these! I wore them with this Old Navy Tank Top which is super comfy and perfect for warmer days.
If you’re looking for another pair of leggings to wear while in Scottsdale, I also love this pair of camo faux leather leggings! This outfit I wore for our massage appointment would also be perfect for hiking in Scottsdale.
Lace Top + Denim for Dinner at Ocean 44 in Scottsdale
Ocean 44 in Scottsdale was highly recommended by tons of my followers on Instagram – so we had to go! This was my 40th birthday dinner! The service was incredible and the restaurant itself is super trendy. The people watching was great too. I wore this lace, long sleeve top that I love so much, with denim and my favorite statement bag. Wearing small in the lace top but it is narrow FYI. I also paired it with my Gucci leather belt (I wear size 80 in the belt and 27 in jeans) and these neutral ankle strap heels that I can wear with just about everything.
This outfit would also be perfect if you’re heading out for a cocktail or heading out for a girls night as well. Just FYI, if you plan on eating at Ocean 44 in Scottsdale – make reservations way in advance as it is one of the hottest restaurants in Scottsdale. I made reservations for most of the spots we wanted to go to about a month in advance.
Leggings and Leopard Pullover for a Morning Hike in Scottsdale
Friday morning we went on a hike at Pinnacle Peak- it was still a little chilly so I wore my favorite leopard pullover from Abercrombie with my Amazon leggings and Old Navy tank. I’d definitely suggest wearing layers this time of year because once the sun comes out, it warms up fast. I also love this Adidas relaxed adjustable strap back cap when I’m out hiking!
We hiked at Pinnacle Peak, which had a trail from the Four Seasons resort to the peak. The hike was fairly easy if you are able bodied and are active, but some parts did have a warning sign for more moderate of a climb and terrain. The views were gorgeous and it took us about 1.5 hours to do the entire hike. I wore my Adidas Ultraboost tennis shoes for the hike and did just fine, but if you are a planner and big on packing lists, I would include hiking boots if you plan to hike often while you are in Arizona.
Casual Dinner Outfit for Mexican Food at The Mission
Friday night I was pretty tired from our hike, so I decided to wear a cute yet comfortable outfit. We headed to The Mission at Kierland for some Mexican food. It was pretty good and had a fun vibe, nothing spectacular – just a good stop for some yummy tacos and drinks. We also walked around the Kierland Commons shopping district and browsed some stores.
I wore my fitted black turtleneck, my new Nico high rise jeans, and my Golden Goose Mid star sneakers which was the perfect casual dinner outfit for Scottsdale. In case you’re looking at getting the jeans, just know that they are fabulous but they do stretch out between washes. I have on 28 and should have got my normal size 27.
Brunch Outfit for The Hash in Scottsdale
Saturday morning we had brunch at The Hash in Scottsdale – which is a super popular brunch spot. I dressed super casual and wore my Spanx leggings, Golden Goose sneakers, and Target neon pullover with my Quay sunnies. If you’re planning on eating here, make sure to get on the Yelp waitlist in advance. I didn’t make a reservation here and there were several adult birthday parties and bachelorette parties happening here, because they have a live DJ and a fun bloody Mary bar!
If you’re headed to Scottsdale on a bachelorette party trip or if you just want some really yummy brunch, I’d recommend this place for its fun atmosphere. The food and drinks were also great. After brunch we headed back to our resort and got to enjoy the pool, which was so nice!
Casual Dress + Pearl Flats for Dinner at Elements
Saturday night we headed to an early reservation at Elements at the Sanctuary hotel near Camel Back mountain. The views were amazing and a lot of people were taking sunset photos on the patio/deck area. I wore this pink and orange Walmart dress, travel sandals, and made sure to bring my favorite suede Moto jacket for after the sun went down. This dress is one of my fave casual dresses I own.

The food here was so good – it had an Asian flare with a famous chef and the salmon was some of the best I’ve ever had. They were also very sweet and brought me out a special birthday treat. I noticed lots of couples on a date night as well as large groups/families out enjoying dinner. The pool scene at the Sanctuary seemed to be a pretty happening spot as well.
If you’re thinking about a trip to Scottsdale, I’d highly recommend it! I was so glad we packed appropriately for the desert climate because if we hadn’t, it wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable. Make sure to include lots of layers on your packing lists for what to wear in Scottsdale.
I also had lots of recommendations to take the 1-1.5 hour trip to Sedona, but we never made it there.
Also, some other popular dinner spots suggested to me were:
- Barrio Queen
- Mastro’s
- Maple and Ash
- Cafe Monarch
- Steak 44
- True Food Kitchen
- Isabella’s Kitchen
- The Vig
- Olive and Ivy
- For the avid hikers, Camelback seems to be the hottest hiking spot.
