With summer almost upon us we have been spending so much time in our pool trying to stay cool! It makes me want to lounge and relax by the pool all the time. We love to use our pool area for summertime entertaining too. I love to keep our pool area decorated to create a welcoming feeling for guests and to make it easier to relax. I want our pool area to feel inviting and I like to share my personality through my home decor. Today I’m sharing some decorating ideas and styles for around the pool. Hopefully, they will get you inspired to decorate your pool area too!

Decorating Ideas for Around the Pool
Bar Cart Decor
One piece of outdoor furniture I love to utilize when we have guests and to add interest to our pool area is a bar cart. I love the natural wood bar carts because they bring some added warmth and texture to my otherwise pretty neutral space. I love to style my bar cart with pieces like an outdoor pitcher, outdoor plates and bowls, snacks when friends are over, and a few other items to add interest like my big lantern and my turquoise jug. Of course, you can make it fully functional and use it for serving drinks and storing your outdoor drinkware as well.
Nautical Pool Decorating
Nautical decorating instantly makes a space feel more coastal and like you’re relaxing on the beach. If you’re looking to decorate your pool with a nautical feel, bold stripes are the way to go! Our striped umbrellas would be perfect for this and are great for incorporating around these poolside loungers or a seating area that’s not covered. These nautical striped pillows would also be the perfect nautical touch on this outdoor sectional or this outdoor 3-seater couch. If your outdoor furniture doesn’t feel very coastal, add in natural weave baskets or a wooden coffee table. If you don’t love the bold nautical stripe, these light blue palm print pillows from Serena & Lily are also a great coastal option!
Boho Outdoor Spaces
Bohemian (or boho) decor is really in right now and it’s a great way to decorate your outdoor space. Boho decor has a very tropical feel. So if you want to feel like you’re lounging by the pool in Tulum, boho is a great decor choice. I also think it’d be so fun to throw a boho pool party! The egg chair is a really popular outdoor (and indoor) item lately. It’s the perfect bohemian decor touch for creating a tropical vibe. I love this white egg chair or this swivel egg chair for the pool area.
If you don’t love the egg chair look, two of these natural wicker chairs would be the perfect bohemian accent for your outdoor living area. I love this set of 2 coffee tables that would go really well in a boho outdoor living space. Make sure to look for tie die or shibori print accents for added bohemian feel. This shibori print throw pillow would be perfect and I also love this outdoor rug with tassels for the pool area.
Neutral/Minimalistic Pool Decor
A neutral/minimalistic pool decor style is inviting and calming. Neutral decor is perfect for creating a relaxing environment if you want to have friends over often to lounge by the pool. These pool loungers are beautiful and minimalistic. You could leave them as is to keep the space minimal or add some beautiful throw pillows to them! I love how simple and beautiful these outdoor lanterns are. We have them in our outdoor space and I think they’re the perfect touch of contrast to my neutral decor. Just add LED candles for cozy lighting!
To add some extra detail to your pool area while keeping it neutral, this console table and large mirror are perfect for decorating. Sectionals are perfect for having guests and you can easily rearrange and decorate them if your style ever changes. I love this sectional seating set for a minimalistic look that’s easy to style many ways. Add a beautiful geometric outdoor rug and don’t forget some coordinating accent pillowsfor depth!
