When it comes to shopping for furniture and decor for our home, one of my favorite places to shop is Serena & Lily. Their coastal chic style is stunning and for neutral lovers like myself, I truly cannot get enough of it. Over the years, I’ve purchased too many items to count from them but to this day, one of my favorite purchases for my home is their Riviera Counter Stool. We not only had them in our lake house but we loved them so much I purchased them for our home’s kitchen as well!

Serena & Lily Riviera Counter Stool Review
The Riviera Counter Stools have a gorgeous classic Parisian bistro-inspired silhouette and they truly look good with any decorating style. In our lake house, we had the classic navy and white color combination but in our current home, we have the natural sunwashed color, which I love. And that’s the great thing about the stools, they come in so many different color combinations and each features the hand-bent rattan frame that you truly cannot go wrong.
Riviera Counter Stool Dimensions
- Overall: 18” wide x 24” deep x 42/25” high
- Inner Seat: 18.5” deep x 15.5” wide
- Seat Height: 26”
- Footrest Height: 8”
- Weight Limit: 300 pounds
Riviera Counter Stool Pros:
- Style – Parisian bistro meets coastal. These stools are so chic. If you’re leaning towards the Parisian style, I’d opt for the checkered style but if you’re looking for a chair that’s more neutral, opt for the solid color!
- Color Selection – As one of Serena & Lily’s most sought-after items, they’re constantly adding additional color options to choose from. As I mentioned above, I’ve had both classic checkered style and their sunwashed colors. Both can be incorporated into any space!
- Material – The frames of the chairs are made from sustainable rattan, which is SO sturdy and the seats are handwoven resin. They’re durable and easy to clean, which is a must for my family! The sunwashed stools are made from a natural fiber, which seem to have more give and occasionally, a loose fiber can poke you and needs to be trimmed or pushed down between the weaving.
- Easy to Clean – There’s truly no easier counter stool to clean! All you need to use is a gentle, damp cloth and they’ll be clean!
Riviera Counter Stool Cons:
The only true con of these chairs is the cost. The original Riviera Counter Stools are $398 per chair and the sunwashed style is $428 per chair. While steep, the chairs are worth every penny and will last you years! If you have a large island or counter space where you need to purchase a handful of chairs, I’d recommend taking advantage of their sales. Typically, these happen a few times a year and are usually 20-25% off the entire site.
Are the Serena & Lily Riviera Counter Stools Worth It?
If I could scream from the rooftops how much I love these stools, I would. When it comes to furniture, you get what you pay for and this is absolutely the case with these stools. They’re beautiful, they’ve lasted my years, and they’re super comfortable. And don’t forget, I’ve now purchased them twice! They’re truly the best counter stools on the market.
Serena & Lily Riviera Counter Stool Dupes
Even though the Riviera Counter Stools are my favorite, they’re not in the budget for everyone. Luckily, I’ve found some great dupes over the years that I wanted to share with you!
- World Market – This lookalike from World Market is $170 per chair and they are so close in style to the Serena & Lily ones! The only downside is that they only come in a black/white check.
- Pottery Barn – These Parisian-style woven counter stools are made from rattan and bamboo and are absolutely stunning! They’re also really durable and the natural color is beautiful.
- Target – Love the Serena & Lily Riviera Counter Stools but want something that’s more affordable and a little more modern? These ones from Target are a no-brainer! I love the squared-off back and the color of the wood.
