Hey! We’re wrapping up our summer plans (cue the tears) and gearing up for going back to school! Can you believe summer is almost over? I love summer days but I’m looking forward to getting back into a daily routine with my kids. But first, we’ve got to go back to school shopping to get all of the supplies and everything else we need. I love that Walmart offers easy and affordable back-to-school outfit ideas for kids, from school uniforms to trendy outfits that you can mix and match!
Dressing your kids for success doesn’t have to mean making multiple trips to different stores. I found some really great back-to-school outfit ideas for kids from Walmart this year and I’m excited to share them with you today.

I am loving the affordable girls’ denim at Walmart. My daughter Vivian is seven and loves to dress up and be trendy, and we found a few pairs of denim that are perfect for creating fun back-to-school outfits. We love this pair of Justice denim with the colorful patches paired with this white puff-sleeve top that’s super on trend, and these Justice low-court glitter sneakers that look like a designer dupe for girls!
We also really love this pair of girls’ dark super skinny jeans that are under $10 and would look so cute with this knit sleeve denim jacket or this long sleeve plaid top for fall! These super skinny high-rise jeans with the button fly are so cute too and at an incredible price point of only $8.
Girls’ Chic Loungewear Set to Mix-and-Match
I saw this set and immediately wanted it in my size. I love the grey flared sweatpants and this adorable matching peplum short sleeve sweatshirt. They can be worn together as a chic loungewear set or mix and match them separately with other affordable pieces like this Justice patched denim that you can find at Walmart! I can see Vivian wearing this set with these glitter sneakers. This super cute sports glam backpack would be the perfect accessory year-round and it’s under $20!
First Day of School Outfit Ideas for Girls
This girls’ rugby-style dress is so cute – I love the bright colors, and it’d be perfect for the first day back to school! We styled this dress with these glitter sneakers that are too cute and perfect for dressing up or down. She’s loving the Wonder Nation Kids’ Sport Glam Backpack that will hold all of her school supplies this year.
This floral Free Assembly smocked waist skort is another piece from Walmart that I think is too cute. It gives me so many back-to-school outfit ideas for Vivian. This skort is comfortable and practical for your girls with the smocked waist and built-in shorts that are perfect for playing during recess or sitting on the floor in the classroom.
Boys’ Back to School Outfit Ideas
Boys can be SO hard to shop for because either they don’t care what they wear or there isn’t a very great selection. (Why are there so many more options for girls?) But thankfully Walmart has it all covered when it comes to back-to-school outfit ideas for boys. I know my son appreciates anything that makes getting dressed in the mornings faster and easier!
These Wonder Nation denim jeans for boys are a great pair of dark denim and they’re under $10. Pair them with these stylish-but-classic Wonder Nation low-top sneakers and any of these football shirts that come in a 3-pack for super easy back-to-school outfits! I also really liked this camo grey backpack for boys that will go with any outfit and it was only $22!
Boys’ Back to School Athletic Outfits and High-Top Sneakers
These boys’ athletic shorts come in a pack of 6 shorts for just under $23. I couldn’t believe the price of these when I found them. You can create so many outfits with these Athletic Works shorts and I love the colors! My son, Hudson, is 9 and he will love being able to throw these on with all of his t-shirts for spirit days. They’re comfortable and stylish, and it won’t bother me if he gets holes in the knees after tons of playing because of how affordable they are!
