When we first moved into our home 8 years ago, we worked with our designer Laura (she’s the best!) to create a space that is not only beautiful but is also functional for our family. With that being said, I knew the one thing I wasn’t willing to give up (even though we have kids!) was my love of neutral home decor. Yes, our home has light-colored carpet, pillows, rugs, and surfaces. Every single detail is so thought out but since we have so many light tones and kids (and indoor cats), it means I need to stay on top of cleaning. My newest go-to tool for keeping our upholstery and rugs looking their best? The BISSELL Little Green Pro Portable Carpet Cleaner! I am sharing my BISSELL Little Green Pro Review and thoughts. Plus a few tips.
Out of any cleaning tool I’ve ever bought, the Little Green BISSELL has some of the best reviews I’ve ever read. And don’t get me started on how satisfying the videos of people functioning dirt and stains out of their couches and carpets are!

BISSELL Little Green Pro Review
When I first got the Little Green Pro, I tried it out on a few areas of our home just to see how it would work – the rug in our entryway, on the cushions of our outdoor couch and then finally in my son’s room (shown above) on a giant stain that had been there over a year. Keep reading to see if the giant stain came out. I will say it was incredibly satisfying (and kind of horrifying!) to see the results in the dirty water tank.
Setting Up the Little Green Pro
Setting up the Little Green Pro is SO easy. While I did read the instructions briefly, I would have easily figured out how to use it without reading them! All you have to do is add hot water and 2 oz of the cleaning solution to the clean tank, plug it in, turn it on, and start cleaning.
My Cleaning Method
When using the Little Green Pro, I find that it works best to use the spray function (located on the handle attachment) and wet the entire surface you’re going to be using the machine on. Don’t wet it too much because it will take a long time to suction and dry that area if it’s too wet.
I then will go back in and start suctioning all the dirt and water with the attachment. I love that you can visibly see all of the dirt and water being suctioned back into the tube instead of staying in your carpet. Bye bye stains!
For heavily soiled or stained areas, I will pre-treat the area with the cleaning solution and will let it sit for 10-15 minutes before using the machine to suck up the dirt and water.
The cleaning solution reservoir is also on the smaller side, so I usually have to refill it if I’m tackling a larger surface area.
Emptying the Machine
When emptying the Little Green Pro, a little water can leak out of the dirty tank so much sure you have the entire machine over the sink. As I mentioned above, you’ll also have to refill the cleaning solution reservoir if you’re cleaning a larger surface area like a sectional, so be prepared to take a few trips to the sink!
Overall Thoughts
Overall, WOW! Check out how well it cleared up the stain in my son’s room. The BISSELL Little Green Prois such a great cleaning machine! It’s lightweight and easy to use but also effective, which is key. If you have kids or pets, I cannot recommend the machine enough. And thanks to its small size, it’s easy to store, even if you don’t have a lot of storage space.

My Favorite Vacuums from Walmart
Shark IQ Robot Vacuum – If you haven’t added a robot vacuum to your cleaning routine, now is the time! We’ve had this one from Shark for a few years now and absolutely love it. It not only cuts my cleaning time in half, but it’s also able to vacuum areas in our home that I often forget about or can’t reach, like under the couch and under beds. My favorite feature of this Robot Vacuum is that it is self-emptying so all I have to do is empty the canister every few weeks. Easy peasy!
Dyson V8 Origin+ Cordless Vacuum–The Dyson is a staple in our home! I love having a cordless option that is powerful and has a long battery life. We keep this stored near our kitchen to clean up quick messes. It’s also super lightweight so it’s easy to carry up the stairs and bring to other areas of our home.
